kVA to kW Calculator

Watts, amps and volts are linked by one formula: W = A × V. Enter two values to get the third. For kVA, the power factor accounts for real-world AC efficiency.

Frequently asked questions

How do you convert watts to amps?

Divide watts by volts: A = W ÷ V. A 1200 W appliance on a 120 V circuit draws 10 A; on 230 V it draws about 5.2 A.

What is a power factor?

The power factor (0–1) is the ratio between real power (kW) and apparent power (kVA) in AC systems. Typical loads run between 0.8 and 0.95.

Is this calculator for DC or AC?

W = A × V holds for DC and for single-phase AC with a power factor of 1. For other AC loads, multiply by the power factor: W = A × V × PF.
